OBONGJAYAR CARRY COME CARRY GO

Nigerian-born, London-based artist Obongjayar's unique sound is characterised by his booming, husky vocals, vibrant African rhythms, and dramatic production style. He's put out an EP (Bassey), as well as a number of singles, some of which are collaborations with artists such as Octavian, on 'Poison', and Wiki and Jesse James Solomon, on 'Elixir'. This year sees the release of his debut album Which Way is Forward. Just landed is a stop-frame video directed by Duncan Loudon and Nan Moore which accompanies Obongjayar's album track 'Carry Come Carry Go'. It documents the movement of geese beside a lake, through both coloured and inverted black and white shots. The skittish nature of the movements of the geese reflects the rhythmic feel of the song. The video reinforces the heartbreak in the lyrics "There's a darkness constantly following me, all these things, they hold no meaning when there's no one to share them with, all my nights are so dam lonely when she's not next to me, she's not there to hold me anymore." Loudan and Moore nailed the video to Obongjayar's wonderfully broken-hearted 'Carry Come Carry Go'. -Ellie Rose-Davies
